THE WORLD WE LIVE IN is a beautiful place—filled with wonders and breathtaking scenery. From soaring mountains and rolling plains to the concrete jungles of our cities and lush, tree-filled rainforests, one thing is certain: there is beauty all around. Ultimately, “beauty is found in the eye of the beholder.”1
Prayer is a primary form of communication between God and His children. Since the earliest of times, men and women have called upon God for help and direction. As we learn the true relationship we each have with God, namely that He is our Father and we are His children, prayer becomes natural and even instinctive on our part.
The sound of The Tabernacle Choir, or any choir for that matter, is found in its blending and unity of voice. Each voice matters and makes a difference. But the strength and contribution of a single voice are not only found in the singing but also in the listening. Mack Wilberg often reminds the Choir, “The key to succeeding in the Choir is to listen louder than you sing.” One of the great secrets to the heavenly harmonies that are created by a choir is found not in the voices that sing loudest, but rather in listening to others.
Taking time each day to sharpen our own spiritual saw prepares us for whatever lies ahead. This sacred time allows us to connect with God through scripture, to speak with Him in prayer, and to discover what He would teach us. A dull saw may still cut, but it slows our progress.
In one location, I visited an old Italian home. Fresh flowers filled the window boxes, the shades had recently been painted, and the front porch light burned brightly. However, as I looked closer, I noticed some imperfections in this otherwise magnificent home.
The pioneer spirit, whether in 1847 or 2025, lives on. Each of us can be blessed as we strive to be pioneers in our own right – moving forward with faith, knowing that even amid great trial and uncertainty.
THERE IS SAFETY in boundaries. Driving lanes on the road, a fenced area warning of a nearby cliff, or even screen time limits on a phone—all of these are examples of boundaries, meant to protect us from danger.
